Abstract

The Covid 19 pandemic that has been going on since 2020-2022 has encouraged all institutions to change their learning methods by implementing online and hybrid lectures. The purpose of this study was to measure the mental burden of students when taking online and hybrid lectures with the Nasa-TLX method, to test whether there is a difference in the level of mental workload in the two learning methods, and to test the relationship between study programs and gender on students' mental burden. The Nasa-TLX questionnaire was filled out by 83 students of the Faculty of Science and Technology, batch 2020, Muhammadiyah University of Bandung. This study found that the mental burden value of online lectures was 80.95 in the heavy category, while the mental burden value of hybrid lectures was 83.87 in the heavy category. Both have the same highest indication of mental burden, namely Effort Level (TU). From the results of the t-test, the mental burden value of online lectures is much different from hybrid lectures. Meanwhile, the Spearman Correlation Test, the gender variable has a strong relationship with mental effort, while the study program variable does not have a strong relationship.
