Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest exists when financial, personal, academic, or institutional relationships could influence, or appear to influence, a person's judgment about a manuscript. Jurnal Teknik requires all parties to disclose such conflicts.
Authors
Authors must disclose all relevant interests in a "Conflict of Interest" statement before the References section, including:
- Funding sources for the research and the role of the funder in study design, analysis, or the decision to publish;
- Employment, consultancy, shareholding, patents, or paid relationships related to the work;
- Personal or professional relationships that could be seen as influencing the work.
If there is no conflict, authors should state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest." Authors may request that specific individuals not review their manuscript, giving reasons.
Reviewers
Reviewers must decline an invitation or inform the editor if they:
- Have a supervisory, family, or close personal relationship with any author;
- Have a financial interest in the outcome, or are working on closely competing research;
- Feel unable to be objective for any other reason.
Reviewers must not use unpublished information from a manuscript for their own advantage.
Editors
- Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest; such manuscripts are assigned to another editor.
- Manuscripts submitted by the Editor-in-Chief or members of the editorial board are handled by an editor with no conflict and reviewed by external reviewers only. The submitting editor has no access to the review process of their own manuscript.
- For manuscripts from Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani authors, at least one reviewer must be external to the university.
- Unpublished material in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the author's written consent.
Undisclosed conflicts of interest discovered later will be handled under the Allegations of Research Misconduct policy and may lead to a correction or retraction.
