Tantangan bagi organisasi untuk menghadapi lingkungan global dan persaingan yang semakin ketat dewasa ini adalah melakukan perubahan. Perubahan menjadi suatu keharusan bagi organisasi agar senantiasi mampu adaptif. Konsolodasi internal dalam manajemen di antaranya adalah penyederhanaan struktur organisasi yang di dalamnya adalah unsur karir. Tulisan ini mencoba menguraikan paradigma baru tentang perubahan organisasi yang berdampak pada cara pandang terhadap karir para karyawannya.
